St John’s Hill is a Peabody estate in south west London where a redevelopment strategy was adopted after years of consultation and analysis. An OJEU compliant masterplan competition was run attracting numerous entries from high quality architects. The existing estate residents received training and were involved in brief-writing as well as the selection of the architects (Hawkins Brown) via competitive interview. Planning consent was gained in 2011 for a three phase scheme. Residents also helped to select the contractors, Sisk, and phase one is now complete.
